Be at Your Best:

Well, as a fitness professional, we expect that year-round, right?! But it’s even more important in the beginning of the year. You can’t afford to be away or sick – your clients and classes need you! So get lots of good sleep, eat well (lots of fruits and veggies) drink lots of water and take your Vit C or Echinacea if you’re feeling run-down. Put your game-face on no matter what is going on – you need to be positive, energetic and customer-service oriented. It’s show time! Read more on 2016 Fitness Business Pep Rally…

Client Fitness Assessment Month

Posted by on January 6, 2016 at 8:19 pm

DSC02801Can you believe 2016 is here!  As you know, January is a great time of year to recharge your clients programs to set a game plan for the new year.  No matter what our client’s goals may be, it is necessary to have a solid way of how to best track their progress.  January at Northwest Personal Training is our client fitness assessment month. We will be conducting these fitness assessments in both group training classes and personal training sessions. We have specific assessment forms for both group training clients and personal training clients. (Want more forms? Want to get your business organized? You can have the system I created and use everyday at our studio….and use it to run your fitness business. Check out the Business of Personal Training System.)

Bad Weather Protocol

Posted by on December 16, 2015 at 8:57 pm

snow_cars_detail_parking_01The best way to deal with bad weather is to take a proactive approach.  So, we recently touched base with our staff members to make sure that IF something were to happen we would have the information we need:

Do you have this information from your team?

  • Who could actually get to work?
  • Whose vehicle is capable of driving in the snow and whose is not? Who feels comfortable driving in the snow and who does not?
  • Who has chains – and knows how to use them?
  • Who lives close to the studio with no major hills or obstacles en route?  Who lives close to a bus route and could easily take a bus into work?

Holiday Hours That Work for Clients & Trainers

Posted by on November 23, 2015 at 8:12 pm

1526598_10152400074961946_8241213965217345864_nThe Holiday season is upon us and that often means your business will be closed on those special days. The holidays also mean that personal trainers will be requesting vacation time. Do you have policies that will keep both your clients and your personal trainers happy during the holidays? Over the next few weeks I will be giving you some of my favorite tips and tricks to make holiday schedules a win/win for everyone!

First things first….it is imperative that you notify your clients if your regular business hours will be changing during the holidays. We ask our trainers to send out a personal email to their clients reminding them of our special hours and our special classes during the holidays.  That’s right! We offer super fun specialty group training classes in the morning on some holidays so that folks still get a workout in, but don’t need to be open the entire day. We make the holiday classes super fun so it is a win/win for clients and trainers! Read more on Holiday Hours That Work for Clients & Trainers…

Posted by on November 20, 2014 at 1:12 pm

The-Go-Giver“The Go Giver” is a quick easy read that follows a young, ambitious sales associate trying to reach success in this career.  He’s working hard but not getting anywhere when a colleague provides him the name of a consultant who could provide him the insight he needs to excel.

In this parable, we are introduced to the 5 Laws of Stratospheric Success.

#1. The Law of Value:

Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment.  It can be easy to accomplish this in the fitness industry when we are literally changing people’s lives.  Read more on Summary of Success & Giving…

Fill Your Schedule – Encourage Monthly Clients

Posted by on April 11, 2014 at 11:00 am

Clients that come see you for 1 on 1 personal training a couple times a week are the best kinds to get, but not all clients (or potential clients) can, want or need to see you that often. It is a good idea to try to fill the open time slots in your/your staff’s schedule by encouraging clients to see a personal trainer once a month for program updates. How do you encourage that type of client to sign up with you? Send them some of the information below. What better way to encourage folks to come see you than by educating them on why it is so important?
